Advance Ordering & Special Requests


We take pride in the fact that everyone who comes to GEEKS tells us what a  good time they had dining with us.  Some of our more regular dinner guests have favorite dishes that aren't on the regular menu.  It might be an entree they had when we offered it at some time as one of our  "Chef's Choices", or one that we prepared for a catered event that they attended.

Folks have discovered that when the Noodle of the day is Strudela, for example, they can order Chicken Vandeberg.  Some ask if we have Dried Tomatoes on hand, and when we do (we dry our own), they order the Chicken w/Dried Tomatoes and Garlic Sauce.

Recently, we had a Dinner Guest who was surprised that Chicken Cordon Bleu was no longer on the menu. Dianna told her that if she had let us know a few days in advance that she was coming, and wanted Chicken Cordon Bleu, (or Kiev, for that matter), Charlie would have obtained the necessary provisions. We're happy to honor special requests when we can, and we have all the ingredients on hand. For more labor intensive dishes, we appreciate an advance order so that Chef Charlie can prep the dish before we open.

Other Guests have favorite Chef's Choices that require a bulk preparation like Braciole, or a long lead-time, including our Homemade Pastrami and Sauerbraten. 

If you're one of them, you have two options:

  • Find a total of at least six folks (8 for some entrees) who'd like the dish on the same night. It could be one group, or multiple parties arriving at different times.  Reservations are required for this, and lead times depend on the entree.
  • Request it as a Chef's Choice.  If we think there will be sufficient interest, we'll put it on an upcoming Chef's Choice Menu, and let you know when it will be served.
We've listed a few of the more popular items on the right, and indicated what the constraints are.  Some are available most of the time, others require advance notice, and still others have minimum order levels. We think offerings like this make GEEKS a truly unique restaurant!  It's like a mini Catered Event or Dinner Party.

Keep in mind that one of the reasons all of these are not on the regular menu all is due to the space and time limitations in the kitchen. If you haven't already read it, you might want to look at the Chef's Perspective.  The availability of these choices depends on how busy we are, and what the workload is like at the time you order. In general, they are options for small groups of 4 or fewer.

All of these have lead times because they either require extensive preparation (Sauerbraten takes 6 days, Pastrami 5) or the ingredients come from suppliers we only visit once a week. In addition, each meal requires the specified minimum number of reservations before we prepare it.
